Sainsbury’s recalls olives over glass fears
Sainsbury was forced to recall its 350g own-label pitted green olives due to a possible contamination with glass, last week.
The retailer recalled the product as a precautionary measure, because a limited number of jars could contain small pieces of glass.
Product recall notices were displayed in stores, advising consumers to return any affected products to its nearest store.
A spokesman for Sainsbury told FoodManufacture.co.uk: “We take food safety very seriously and have removed them from sale as a precautionary measure. We are asking customers to return jars with a Best Before date of 13/1/17 to a Sainsbury’s store for a full refund.
“We are working closely with the supplier and an investigation in to how this happened is ongoing.”
