Jelly containing choking risk additives on sale in supermarket
A Vietnamese supermarket, in London, was forced to stop stocking New Choice brand Mini Fruity Gels as they were found to include a number of banned additives that could pose a choking hazard.
A number of additives, including 'alginic acid' (E400), 'agar' (E406), 'Carrageenan' (E407) and 'processed euchema seaweed' (407a), were discovered during a routine inspection by an environmental health officer.
As these additives were included in this product they are in breach of the legislation.
Despite investigations by the enforcement authorities, it had not been possible to obtain full distribution details or product traceability records for these products, the FSA said.
