Fermentation forces Tropicana recall
PepsiCo has withdrawn bottles of Tropicana Trop 50 Multivitamins Juice from sale, after discovering a batch of the drinks had been spoiled due to fermentation.
Bottles might appear bloated, sediment might be present, or the juice might appear fizzy and the flavour of the product was also likely to be noticeably impacted, the recall notice stated.
The beverages manufacturer identified 1 litre bottles of the drink with a best before date of 14/10/2018 in the recall.
A PepsiCo statement said the drinks were naturally fermenting, adding: “As this batch does not meet the high standards of quality and taste we expect from Tropicana products, we are taking the precautionary measure of recalling the product.
“Our tests show there are no food safety issues with the product, so we do not anticipate any negative physical reactions if it is consumed.”
