Cheese bagel to target key flavour trend
A new cheese bagel from New York Bakery Company has been launched in response to growing consumer demand for cheese-based products.
The bagels are boiled and then baked to create their “authentic” New York bagel texture, claimed the company. The bagel contains cheese throughout the dough and sprinkled on top.
They are marketed to food-to-go outlets and are designed to be thawed from frozen and served.
New York Bakery Company out of home marketing manager Philippa Norton said that cheese took the top spot as the most requested bagel flavour by consumers.
“The cheese bagel gives operators the opportunity to add value to their menus by creating some really innovative hot or cold deli-style sandwich ideas,” she said.
