Bord Bia appoints new chief executive
Irish food board Bord Bia has announced the appointment of Tara McCarthy as its new chief executive, replacing Aidan Cotter who will retire in January 2017.
She joins from Irish seafood agency Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), where she has served as chief executive since September 2015.
Before joining BIM, McCarthy worked with Bord Bia for more than 20 years in a number of senior roles, including: senior manager of the Consumer Foods Division from 2001–2011 and director of the Food and Beverage Division from 2011–2015.
Bord Bia chairman Michael Carey said: “Tara is exceptionally well qualified to take the organisation to the next level, with a deep understanding of the work of Bord Bia.
“She has proven to be a strong leader and fully appreciates the need to build close relationships with the organisation’s key stakeholders.”
