Maggie Timoney, md, Heineken Ireland
Maggie Timoney became the latest woman to lead a UK food or drink business when she took over as md of Heineken Ireland last week (October 2).
The 15 year veteran of Heineken succeeded David Forde, who was appointed md of the brewer’s UK business in May.
Having joined the business in 1998 as national sales planning manager in the US, Timoney has been rewarded with constant promotions throughout her career.
She was general manager of Heineken Canada between 2006 and 2010, when the firm said she “drove substantial growth of the brand and helped Canada become one of the top ten markets in the world.”
Since 2010, she was chief people officer at Heineken USA – a role she held until this month.
The native of Ireland graduated from Iona College, New York, receiving both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees.
While at Iona, she starred for the women’s basketball team and holds the all-time leading scorer record. Last March she was inducted into the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame, an honour reserved for the basketball greats in the US.
