Sir Anwar Pervez
Pervez saved for four and a half years from his job as a bus driver to open his first convenience store in Kensington in 1963. He set up his first Bestway cash and carry in 1976, and today operates 51 warehouses in the UK.
Bestway bought Batleys, another cash and carry in 2005 for £100M. Pervez’s wealth is now estimated at £1.03bn, up 37% from 2012. The family also operates rice mills in Pakistan.
