Sir Ken Morrison and family claimed seventh place on our list. Their supermarket business contributed to their £1bn wealth, down by £105M since last year.
In recent years the family has cut its share in the retailer to 10%, worth £645M. Share sales and other assets add £360M.
The retailer reported a disappointing Christmas – with sales down by 0.5% over the six weeks to December 30. One City analyst claimed the firm had “lost touch” with its core customers.
Meanwhile, this month Morrisons revealed plans to cut up to nearly 700 jobs, as part of plans to introduce nationwide cash-counting machines across 490 stores.
