Supermarket giant hires commercial director
Tesco has appointed George Wright as its new commercial director. He takes over from Matt Simister, who was promoted to ceo of the company’s central Europe operations.
Wright joined Tesco in 2014 as commercial director for convenience, frozen and emerging markets. In 2015 he moved to lead the company’s commercial strategy and operations team, working alongside chief product officer Jason Tarry on the retailer’s major range review.
Wright worked for many different food manufacturing companies during his early career, including Unilever and Goodman Fielder Australia.
Commenting on Wright’s appointment, Tarry said: “George is an established member of the product leadership team and a valued colleague.
“We wish George every success as he takes forward the leadership of Tesco’s crucial fresh food agenda.”
