Supermarkets sellingvalue-priced“wonky” vegetables will make them more accessible for lower-income families, while phone applications could help consumers find and use ingredients that are on sale.
Mintel said lower-income consumers want to improve their diets but the access to – and the cost of – healthy food and drink is often an impediment.
“Healthy food and drink are not luxuries,” Mintel added.
