Duncan Hoy will be joining Tesco in early June as md for large stores, reporting to Tony Hoggett.
He joined from retailer Jumbo, where he was most recently in the role of retail operations director, for the Netherlands- based supermarket chain.
He was also retail operations director at C1000 stores and had various operational roles at this Netherlands retailer. He was also head of brand strategy at C1000 between 2008 and 2010. C1000 was bought out by Jumbo in 2011.
Hoy’s appointment will see Tony Hoggett become UK chief operating officer. He will continue to have responsibility for all channels across the UK.
Last month, Tesco appointed Tracey Clements as md for convenience and ceo of the One Stop Business.
Tesco recently revealed it was back in the black as pre-tax profits hit £162M, in its full-year results, up from £6.3M deficit on the previous year. The retailer also pledged to work “more closely” with suppliers.
