Hovis has appointed Nish Kankiwala as chief executive officer, replacing Martyn Wilks who is to retire.
Kankiwala will take over the role on 19May, 2016 following Wilks departure.
Wilks has had a career spanning over 30 years at companies including Mars, Dairy Crest and Hovis. In May 2015, Wilks took over the helm at Hovis after quitting Dairy Crest, after seven years with the business.
Wilks will be spending more time with his family as well as increasing his involvement with the governing body of the All England Netball Association, where he is a non-executive director.
Kankiwala joined Hovis in May 2014 just after the company’s separation from Premier Foods. The company said he had been instrumental in the creation of Hovis Limited as a standalone business.
It also said that the “continuity of leadership” from Kankiwala will enable a smooth transition for the Hovis Executive team and the wider business. His experience of Hovis and his broad consumer goods background would set Hovis up for the “next stage of its journey” as one of the UK’s favourite brands, it said.
Kankiwala has worked as president of Burger King Corporation; president of Europe and Africa at Pepsico as well as being chairman of both Jeyes and Plum Baby. He also spent 15 years in a range of senior management roles at Unilever.
