Weetabix appoints new head of technical

Cereal manufacturer Weetabix Food Company has appointed John Petre as head of technical, in charge of quality and compliance as well as research and development for the company.

Petre joined the company from kitchens and joinery products supplier Howdens Joinery and has 20 years’ experience in the food and drink industry, including five years at Premier Foods.

As head of technical, he will oversee a team of 60 and report to Patrick Rigby, group operations director.

Speaking on Petre’s appointment, Rigby said: “Having worked at the cutting edge of marketing, technical and research and development for two decades, John has amassed a genuinely unique set of skills. ​

“Plus, with a strong background in engineering too, John’s broad-ranging insights will be invaluable as Weetabix continues to evolve and grow. I have no doubt he’ll be an excellent addition to the team.” ​
