December: Arrest at Moy Park factory in suspected terror offence
The most widely read story this month was our report on a man arrested on suspicion of terror-related offences at Moy Park’s poultry factory in Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
Moy Park declined to comment on the arrest at this time. A spokeswoman for the poultry firm told FoodManufacture.co.uk: “This is a police matter and it would be inappropriate to make comment.”
Five other people were arrested on similar suspected offences, North East Counter Terrorism Unit confirmed. Four men from Derby, aged 22, 27, 35 and 36, a 27-year-old man from Burton-upon-Trent and a 32-year-old woman from London were arrested in total.
A North East Counter Terrorism statement said: “The six people are currently in police custody.”
