Food Standards Agency recruits Colm McKenna to Northern Ireland board
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has appointed Colm McKenna as a board member for Northern Ireland and chair of the Northern Ireland Food Advisory Committee. McKenna will serve an initial three-year term ending in 2019 and starting on September 1, 2016.
He has been operating in public sector board leadership positions since he took early retirement from the financial services industry in 2008. This includes acting as chairman of the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust since 2008 and of the Agri Food and Biosciences Institute since 2014.
Heather Hancock, chair of the FSA, said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Colm to the FSA board. He brings wide insight into the food interests and needs of the people of Northern Ireland.
“Colm understands the role that science and innovation plays in food production, and the cross-border operations of many food businesses on the island of Ireland.
“Both will be invaluable as the FSA continues to protect the public’s interests in food during a period of considerable change.”
