The top trend revealed was that single male households are on the rise. Men now account for 43% of primary shopping and 46% help with food preparation, revealed research from the Food Marketing Institute (FMI). Food claims related to sodium content were also very important to 56% of male shoppers, according to Packaged Facts. This was followed by claims related to sugar content, calories, total fat, trans fat, cholesterol, saturated fat and protein.
