Star of stage and screen
Although Durden-Smith is excellent on stage hosting awards, it is on the small screen where he made his name.
He is most recognisable as the host of the Rugby World Cup on ITV – the most watched sporting event of 2015. A whopping 11.6M people tuned in to watch the clash between England and Wales last month (Saturday 26).
His other television credentials include presenting ITV’s This Morning, Aviva Premiership Rugby highlights for ITV and a number of shows across multiple channels including: Channel 4, Sky, BBC and ESPN.
A master in self-deprecation, Durden-Smith joked at last year’s awards: “For those who don’t know who I am and aren’t familiar with my work, my name is Mark Durden-Smith and I’m a world-famous television presenter and have hosted some of the nation’s favourite programmes over the last 20 years.
““For those who do know who I am and are familiar with my work, my name is Mark Durden-Smith and I’m a D-list, at best, television presenter who for the last 20 years has hosted programmes exclusively on channels over 300 on your TV guide.”
