IKEA dragged into horsemeat scandal
The horsemeat contamination became even more widespread, as furniture giant IKEA was drawn into the scandal, when tests in the Czech Republic revealed traces of horse in its meatballs.
Meatballs from the consignment – made in Sweden – had been sold in the UK.
As a result IKEA, withdrew meatballs from sale in 14 European countries.
The firm said it does “not tolerate any other ingredients than the ones specified” being found in its products.
