Polish meat supplier denies supplying horse meat
At the beginning of February, Polish food firm Food Service denied any involvement in the horsemeat in beef products scandal.
The firm's comments, following claims by McAdam Foods – the Irish meat supplier blamed by ABP for supplying beef products contaminated with horse DNA to Silvercrest Foods – that Food Service was one of two Polish suppliers that provided McAdam with the meat.
The boss of Food Service Marek Czerniej said: “Our production plants to do not process (slaughter, debone, pack or freeze) or store and equine meat. The only activity of the company is pork slaughter and pork and beef deboning.”
He insisted that all the firm’s plants complied with European standards.
