Police probe sabotage
Bakkavör featured in our list of the most popular news articles of 2012 when police investigated ‘a malicious act of contamination’ at one of the firm’s sites, which cost the chilled food manufacturer £1M.
The firm refused to reveal the scene of the crime but said in a statement:“A malicious but isolated act of contamination at one of our factories in August led to its temporary closure, consequent loss of sales, and one-off costs.”
A spokeswoman for the Food Standards Agency told FoodManufacture.co.uk: “It’s an on-going investigation with the police, so I’m afraid we can’t provide any further information at this stage.”
