The Groceries Code Adjudicator (GCA) Christine Tacon has insisted there is “no evidence” of late payments by supermarkets to their suppliers, despite the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) arguing the complete opposite.
Small to medium-sized food and drink manufacturers (SMEs) are being forced to wait more than two-weeks longer than big businesses to receive payment from their customers, according to research by the Asset Based Finance Association (ABFA).
Appointing an adjudicator to police the Groceries Supply Code of Practice (GSCOP) would help to remedy the growing problem of late payments owed to food and drink manufacturers, according to the Food and Drink Federation (FDF).
