A dream job for Matthew Glynn, who is the sales director at Windyridge Cheese, would be his Dad’s job.
“I’ve worked for my Dad for a long time and he’s always been my inspiration. I grew up with him being in the cheese industry and that’s the route I wanted to follow,” he said.
“My Dad’s the md and, actually, to kick him out and let him retire so I can take over the business is what I want to happen – he knows this, but he’s got a couple of years left in him yet.”
Although he works for the family business, Glynn realised he needed as much experience as possible if he was to make the biggest and best impact possible on Windyridge Cheese.
“I worked as a regional account manager for Burts, a national account executive for the Ilchester Cheese Company and I worked with United Biscuits too,” he said.
“I couldn’t just jump into the cheese market without getting some sales experience and getting on the sales ladder first.”
Being shortlisted for the Young Talent of the Year Award was a real pat on the back, he added.
