Food Manufacturing Awards

It was a huge and unexpected honour for process engineer Benjamin Bowman to be shortlisted for the Young Talent of the Year Award, he said.
“I’m genuinely honoured and humbled at the fact that I’ve been recognised as doing a good job,” said Bowman. He started working with the steam infusion and process solutions firm OAL this year, after completing a six-month graduate course with the group in January.
Working as an engineer in the food industry wasn’t an obvious choice for Bowman, who now travels the world and designs lots of equipment for food and drink manufacturers, he explained.
“I wanted to be an engineer and was offered a graduate placement with OAL and it’s been great since then,” he said. “Everyone needs to eat and my career is now a big part of fuelling that need.”
More travel and the opportunity to design equipment for the largest food and drink manufacturing firms are two of Bowman’s biggest ambitions for his future in the food and drink manufacturing sector, he added.
