IGD convention 2014
Fiona Dawson
Fiona Dawson, president of the IGD and Mars Chocolate UK, told delegates they should see the disruption caused by technology as an opportunity not something to be feared.
Dawson: “No one can deny that technology has fundamentally changed the way we live our lives – the very fabric of how we conduct ourselves. The way that we shop, eat and interact.
“Disruption can often be talked about as a negative force and indeed when you’re facing into it, it can feel very uncomfortable. But there are many, well-documented, innovation techniques that talk about harnessing disruption as a force for good, as a force for creating new and exciting possibilities for the future.
“The good news is, as an industry, we come into this disruptive period in an incredibly strong position. We should be phenomenally proud as we think about the industry we are all part of.
“Every single day we feed 63M people safe, good quality, affordable food.”
