News about Premier Foods, ever popular with FoodManufacture.co.uk readers, focused on its disposals strategy, debt management and growing confidence in the leadership of ceo Michael Clarke.
A report from City analyst Panmure Gordon identified Premier's three facilities at Histon, Knighton and Middleton as being the most likely candidates for disposal.
Analysts Graham Jones and Damian McNeela concluded that disposals were essential if the food giant was to service its net debt, which was likely to remain over £1.2bn this year.
Shore Capital concluded that while there was "no silver bullet" to solve the troubled group's financial problems, recovery was "mission possible".
Shore's analysts Clive Black and Darren Shirley said:"The appointment of Mike Clarke as ceo of Premier Foods was a key factor behind our decision to upgrade our recommendation on the share."
