Robert Schofield
Speculation was rife earlier this year that Premier Foods chief executive Robert Schofield would step down, with many in the City seeing it as inevitable given his position as (in the words of one analyst) "an architect of decline", following the firm's much criticised acquisition and leverage strategy during the noughties. He subsequently announced his retirement in late April, although with a successor yet to be found he could continue as ceo until April 2012.
