New England Seafood, the Surrey-based premium fish importer and processor, has appointed Steve Elkins​ as operations director. Elkins has over 20 years' senior operational and commercial experience gained in food and complementary business sectors.

During the 11 years he spent with Geest, he worked through every area of the company’s ready meals operations. He was responsible for packaging development became general manager for steam cuisine at Caledonian Foods - a subsidiary of Geest.

Elkins became business unit manager in 2003 for convenience foods manufacturer John Rannochs where he directed its £40M operation before establishing Chilled Solutions. For two years he provided project management services across a European clientele before becoming part of the team at New England Seafood.

Dan Aherne, md at New England Seafood, said: “I am delighted that Steve is joining the team. He has the perfect credentials to ensure we maximise our £3M investment in the new Surrey factory which has quadrupled our capacity.”
