Bakkavor to recruit 38 apprentices in 2020

The firm has been running its programme for seven years and said it was committed to further developing the skills of enthusiastic individuals who want to embark on a career in the food manufacturing industry.

The programme has vacancies nationwide, spanning across a variety of functional roles including engineering, manufacturing, technical, process, procurement, finance, HR and new product development.

Key business activities​

Successful applicants would experience real responsibility from day one, contributing to key business activities and projects, while at the same time studying towards a relevant, nationally recognised qualification, explained the firm.

The programme also focuses on the development of life skills by encouraging apprentices to get involved with local community projects and charity initiatives.

In addition to the group apprenticeship programme, there are currently 300 existing employees completing apprenticeship qualifications, which, Bakkavor noted, highlighted the importance of apprenticeships to the group.

In July, 21 apprentices successfully completed prepared foods maker Bakkavor’s apprenticeship programme​ at its Wigan site, bringing the total at the time to 78.
