Gluten-free Panko
Producer Ueman Ryoshoku Seifunsho has targeted the gluten-free market with its take on traditional panko breadcrumbs.
Usually made from wheat flour, Ueman’s panko is made from rice flour, opening up the opportunity for coeliacs to eat foods such as katsu curry and potato croquettes.
Using rice flour to make products that would be avoided by growing numbers of gluten-free consumers could open up an easy way to gain market share.
Because rice flour flakes are made from 100% rice flour, water can be added to the them to create rice porridge.
