A number of food firms have joined forces in an alliance that aims to better protect oceans.
The 2020 Leaders for a Living Ocean, an initiative from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), brings together 27 companies from around the world in a commitment to increase the supply, trade and availability of certified, traceable, sustainable seafood.
Companies involved include Birds Eye owner Nomad Foods Europe, Sainsbury’s and McDonald’s.
The alliance builds on a groundswell of more than 3,000 businesses that have pledged to produce and sell seafood certified to MSC standards.
