Oppo’s crowdfunding success
Oppo Ice Cream made it to position 69 in this year’s Startups 100 list, propelled by two rounds of crowd-funding success.
The company, whose ice cream contains 60% fewer calories than standard ice cream, has raised more than £800,000 through crowd-funding site Seedrs – including investment from tennis star Andy Murray.
The company achieved 700% year-on-year growth between 2015–16 and its products are available in 1,600 stores nationwide, including Co-op, Holland and Barrett and Budgens.
Oppo also appeared on BBC TV show Dragons’ Den. FoundersHarry and Charlie Thuillierused the sales pitch as free advertising for the company.
