Food and drink firms in top start-ups list
A total of 13 food and drink manufacturers appear on the list of 100 best business start-ups, published by business advice website Startups.co.uk.
Nut butter brand Pip & Nut took the top spot as the highest ranked food/drink manufacturer on the list, ranked 22nd. In second place was protein bar producer Primal Pantry.
Also featured on this year’s list were gourmet confectionery brand Candy Kittens, cauliflower rice producer Cauli Rice and ethnic snack manufacturer Chika’s.
Startups 100 is published each year by Startups.co.uk. It lists the top 100 up-and-coming privately-owned businesses in the UK that have started trading on or after January 1 2014.
Ranked by their innovation
Companies were ranked by their innovation and “unique” selling proposition, growth potential, employee numbers and sales to date.
The companies featured in this year’s Startups 100 collectively employ about 2,187 staff with average turnover of about £1.64M.
Top of this year’s list was mattress retailer Eve Sleep, which achieved revenue growth of 355% and sales across 10 countries since it launched in February 2015.
