2001: Bass Brewers
Bass Brewers picked up the inaugural Company of the Year award for pressing ahead with a raft of improvement initiatives despite being sold to Interbrew of Belgium.
Judges were also impressed by the way Bass had worked to break down barriers between production and the end customer.
A ‘Leadership and involvement’ programme stated the objective of giving one of its 1,800 production employees a ‘line of sight’ to the end customer.
Bass Brewers has since been renamed Coors Brewers, after it was acquired by the Molson Coors Brewing Company.
