Laverstoke Mill is Bombay Sapphire’s first home after being distilled under licence by G&J Distillers in Warrington for the past two decades.
The two-hectare, former brown field, site is just 60 miles from London and houses the brand’s four stills, as well as two botanical glasshouses and a visitors’ centre.
Laverstoke Mill was a paper mill, used to print currency for the former British Empire, until Bacardi, which owns Bombay Sapphire, bought it in 2010.
A multimillion pound investment transformed the site from a derelict paper mill into Bombay Sapphire’s first home.
The site has a biomass boiler, which creates enough energy to produce 25% of the site’s steam-raising capacity to heat the stills.
It also has an open flume turbine, which creates 76kWh of energy to power about 300 light emitting diodes in the visitors’ centre and bars.
