BHJ launches first natural protein for pork products

Related tags Pork Nutrition

Meat ingredients specialist BHJ UK Protein Foods has introduced its first highly functional, natural pork protein for use in injected cooked and cured pork products.

The firm says Scanpro NHI 95 offers proven technical benefits such as increased cooking yield, reduced purge in pack and improved slicing yields. It can also be used as a phosphate alternative.

Made with a natural antioxidant, the product is designed for meat manufacturers looking to source a natural ingredient for use in the production of premium ham and bacon products.

Its natural status means products can be labelled and promoted as containing 'natural pork protein'.

Sales and marketing director of BHJ UK Richard Parnell said: "Our new Scanpro NHI 95 is ideal for meat processors looking to position finished ham or bacon products as higher-end premium ranges.

"With on-going consumer demand for natural products continuing to rise, it has never been a better time for us to develop a natural alternative."
