Bernard Matthews plans up to 150 job cuts in Norfolk
Bernard Matthews revealed plans to cut up to 150 jobs at its headquarters and factory in Norfolk this month (February 7), as part of a company-wide restructuring process.
At least 90 jobs could be cut from its facility in Great Witchingham. It would see production end at the Norfolk factory and transferred to Suffolk. The manufacturer planned to cut a further 50 jobs at its head office.
A Bernard Matthews spokesman said: “If these changes proceed, they will create a business that is fit for future growth. Our focus now is to support colleagues affected and ensure we explore all options available to us to mitigate potential job losses.”
The planned cuts came less than five months after owner Boparan Private Office confirmed 2,000 jobs were safe at Bernard Matthews, following its takeover of the company on September 20.
