Other companies that had to recall their products included retailers Co-op and Sainsbury, as well as producers PepsiCo and Heatherlea Bakery.

Meanwhile, Marks & Spencer has condemned the sale of its own-label food by unauthorised third-party sellers, after two of its pork stuffing products were part of a Food Standards Agency recall.
