Noble Foods has appointed Andrew Cracknell as its new chief executive, following Peter Thornton’s decision to stand down from the role after five years.

Thornton will remain with the egg producer as a non-executive director and as the chairman of its deserts business Gü and Noble Foods Inc – the US arm of the company.

Michael Kent, co-founder of Noble Foods, said: “Having played a key role in helping to transform the fortunes of the business since he joined, Peter has decided to change career direction by working in more of a non-executive capacity in the future.

“I am pleased to say that we will continue to benefit from Peter’s knowledge and experience.”

‘Over 20 years’ experience’

Cracknell, who will take up the role on January 14 2014, will bring over 20 years’ experience to the role – gained at the ABP Food Group.

Over the last two decades he has held a number of senior roles at the meat firm, including general manager of its Ellesmere plant in Shropshire.

Most recently he was commercial and board director, where he was responsible for all business units supplying fresh and frozen beef products across the retail sector – a position he held for four years.
