RHM spends a cool £2.2m

Star Refrigeration has completed projects valued at £2.2m in total at RHM’s Charnwood Foods site in Leicester and at Avana Bakeries in Newport.

The projects included ammonia refrigeration plants to serve Starfrost spiral freezers and chillers on both sites. The company also designed and installed a number of air-cooled chiller packages. These supply cooling to process areas at Charnwood Foods and provide comfort cooling and product conditioning at Avana Bakeries.

A series of direct expansion refrigeration plants for cold stores and chill rooms was also included in both contracts.

Charnwood manufactures pizza bases for a leading UK pizza chain, and over the past year the company has extended its manufacturing site in Leicester, doubling production capacity. A range of cost-effective and energy efficient refrigeration plants were central to the new facility.

Avana Bakeries saw a £21m regeneration project completed at the Rogerstone, South Wales site. The new refrigeration systems provided the company with the flexibility to process a wide range of products.
