GXO Logistics site facing extended period of strike action

Unite the union confirmed that strike action involving warehouse workers and delivery drivers at GXO’s Feltham site in West London will take place from 28 May until 18 June in response to what the trade union described as “alarmingly low pay”.​

The new dates have been announced to include weekend shifts which Unite said could result in “further disruption" ​to food distribution across London. However, GXO said that it does not anticipate any disruptions as a result of the strikes.

According to Unite, warehouse workers at the Feltham site are paid less than the London living wage at just over £12 per hour, while it claims that delivery drivers are paid below the market rate.

Commenting on the decision to initiate strike action, Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Out of sheer greed, this multi-billion-pound company is refusing to pay its workers the living wage.​

“Unite puts the jobs, pay and conditions of its members first and the workers at GXO in Feltham will receive the union’s unyielding support.”​

In response, a GXO spokesperson told Food Manufacture: "We are currently in process with ACAS and Unite and have already made an enhanced offer as part of these negotiations. We are disappointed that this offer has not been communicated to our colleagues and we will continue to work with ACAS and Unite to find a resolution but are confident we can mitigate the impact of any industrial action."​

In other news, Kellanova has confirmed that its Kellogg’s cereal factory in Manchester will close towards the end of 2026.​​
