UK supermarket giant has recalled pickle range amid fears of glass contamination
Branded as ‘Tesco Sandwich Pickle’, the recalled product is sold in 295g containers, features a batch code of 3254 and has a best before date of 11 September 2025.
The retailer issued the recall notice because the possible presence of glass means that the product is unsafe to eat and has informed customers that bought the pickle to return it to any Tesco store for a full refund, even if they do not have a receipt.
“We have been made aware that a specific date/batch code of Tesco Sandwich Pickle may contain small pieces of glass. Therefore, this product could pose a safety risk if consumed,” read the notice.
“Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”
Meanwhile, Aldi is recalling two different varieties of steak because of a labelling error which means that they possess incorrect use-by dates.
The Ashfield Grill branded ‘Chinese Pork Loin Steaks’ and ‘BBQ Pork Loin Steaks’ are both sold in 500g packs and have a best before date of 22 June 2024.
In response, Aldi is displaying point of sale notices in all retail stores that sell the products telling customers not to eat the products due to them being unsafe.
“Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given,” the notice read.
“We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation.”
Finally, building on the news that a number of Bread Spread products had been recalled due to contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a statement has been issued informing all food businesses to remove all chilled and ready-to-eat products manufactured and supplied by Bread Spread under the brand names Bread Spread, Orbital Foods and Perfect Bite from sale because they have not been manufactured in accordance with food law requirements.
