The webinar, chaired by chief executive of Campden BRI Steven Walker and sponsored by RSSL, will take place online on 15 October at 3pm.

Dr Betts will consider developments in rapid in-line testing, whole genome sequencing and how to deal with biofilms at plant level.

Other speakers confirmed include Dr Derek Watson from the University of Sunderland, addressing the subject ‘Being watched: fostering a food safety culture and managing audits’. Beverley Hirst, consultant, food safety & quality at RSSL, will also be presenting, looking at the challenges posed by allergens in the food chain.

Exclusive survey

Food Safety Briefing: 2020 and beyond: a new era for food standards, which is free to attend, will exclusively reveal the results of Food Manufacture’s annual food safety survey of thousands of food and drink manufacturers across the UK.

The research will provide a unique and independent overview of food standards and key challenges at the factory level, with feedback from the people closest to the action: food safety, technical and quality managers and senior staff.

If you work in this area and have not yet had time to complete the survey, which can easily be done in 10 minutes, click the link and have your say. One lucky participant, chosen at random, will receive a £100 Amazon voucher.

Food safety policing, allergen management

Other areas covered will be: the current robustness of food safety policing and monitoring systems, and food fraud.

Together with the six presentations, the webinar will feature two separate Q&A sessions to give attendees the chance to air their own views and quiz speakers.
