A contractor’s fatal fall at Premier Foods’ Worksop site last week is being investigated by police and the Health and Safety Executive.

The accident happened after the 46-year old man fell during the routine test of a fire alarm system at the manufacturer’s Claylands Avenue site.

A Premier Foods spokesperson told FoodManufacture.co.uk: “We can confirm that a contractor working for ADT was sadly involved in an accident at our Worksop site.

Smoke alarms

“The contractor was conducting tests on the site's smoke alarms as part of our regular programme of checks on this equipment. The contractor was taken to hospital but regrettably died from his injuries.

“We are co-operating fully with the authorities to investigate the causes of the accident.

“Our thoughts are clearly with man's family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”
