Sports firm launches bacon
Now there is nothing weird about a new bacon product being launched, but when that product is released by a sports clothing firm things get a bit more peculiar.
Reebok Bacon was launched as part of the firm’s consumer engagement strategy for the Reebok CrossFit Games.
Many of Reebok’s consumers that buy its CrossFit range of fitness training attire followed a Palaeolithic diet – also referred to as the caveman diet – and loved bacon, the firm said.
In keeping with Palaeolithic principles, Reebok Bacon is uncured and contains no nitrates, preservatives, monosodium glutamate or sweeteners, the firm added.
Bacon packages were sent directly to athletes and handed out to spectators at the games from a food truck.
Meanwhile, followers of the Palaeolithic diet attacked the government’s ‘Eatwell Plate’.
