Colour-changing ice cream
Colour-changing ice cream is something you would expect only a magician could show you, but the feat was actually achieved by Spanish physicist Manuel Linares.
The ice cream changes colour from blue to pink as it is licked.
But, like a true magician, Linares is refusing to give away the secret to what makes the ice cream change colour.
“As a physicist I know that there are various possibilities that might work and I was delighted when I managed to crack it and create an ice cream that changes colour,” he said according to media reports.
“And as to the trick, I am not giving out too much detail because the patents are still going through.”
It is currently on sale in the town of Calella de Mar, in the east province of Barcelona and is said to have a tutti-frutti taste. It includes strawberries, cocoa, almonds, banana, pistachio, vanilla and caramel.
He was inspired to create the ice cream by British ice cream inventor Charlie Francis.
But what did Francis invent to inspire Linares? Click to the next slide to find out.
