Road closed after mash spillage
Police were forced to close a section of the A64 for almost six hours after a lorry spilled mashed potato onto the carriageway.
The Clive Warcup Transport lorry lost a quarter of its contents onto the road at Crambeck Junction near Malton as it was travelling westbound towards York at 3.25pm on Saturday June 21.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police told FoodManufacture.co.uk that there were no other cars involved and nobody was injured.
“The driver put his breaks on to stop because of traffic ahead and [the lorry] shed its load,” she added. “We are not investigating the incident. Lorries shed their load from time-to-time.”
