SME innovation of the year
Independent sushi supplier Ichiban UK was awarded the SME innovation of the year.
This award is presented to the most innovative small UK food and drink manufacturer – typically employing fewer than 100 staff and with a turnover lower than £10M a year.
The firm was recognised for its work with retail customers to drive uptake of the sushi food category.
Judges said: “Ichiban has made significant progress in what is a difficult category in the UK. It has worked hard to overcome some customers’ reluctance to eating sushi based on raw fish.”
Ichiban UK’s head of commercial Karen Green was presented with the award by Columbus IT business development Matt Drewett and Durden-Smith.
