Enviromental initiative of the year
Dawn Meats took to the stage to pick-up the Environmental initiative of the year.
Following a fundamental review of its beef and lamb operations, the firm has worked tirelessly to reduce its energy use and waste.
It has achieved a 90% reduced in thermal energy consumption at one site and 50% at the others. It has also saved 56Ml of water and cut its carbon dioxide emitted.
Judges said: “Dawn Meats has gone further than many others through initiatives such as wind turbine technology, the construction of a seven acre wetland, and the building of a roof garden to improve biodiversity.”
Dawn Meats UK operations manager Isla Roebuck collected the award from Durden-Smith and Mark Reeve, md of Chalcroft Construction.
