Pre-packed salad and vegetable packhouses across the UK – including leek suppliers – often use fixed weight weighing systems to minimise giveaway and waste.

For dedicated leek packers, the Aja HWS Super Selector semi-automatic multi-head weigher is said to take away the guesswork and juggling of leek pieces to achieve best weight and minimal giveaway, while maximising packing line speed.

Based on a standard multi-head weigher concept, the HWS has 14 bomb door weigh hoppers laid out in table top, linear format.

One operator feeds the hoppers constantly as the weigher finds the best combination to the target weight and drops the leeks onto a collating belt, which feeds out into the flow-wrapper infeed.
