The Basic Ingredients Ltd is withdrawing its Emma Basic Curry Cubes Japanese Style because the product may contain milk, which is not mentioned on the label.
The UK-wide recall covers all 200g packs of the product with the following best-before dates: 29 December 2026, 24 February 2027, 18 March 2027, 12 May 2027, 23 July 2027, 14 September 2027, 12 October 2027 and 26 March 2028.
As the product may contain milk, it poses a potential health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
Emma Basic is a British clean-label food brand created by The Basic Ingredients Ltd that focuses on “everyday Japanese and Asian home-cooking staples” made without artificial additives, colourings, emulsifiers, sweeteners or ultra-processed ingredients.
In a customer notice, a spokesperson for the brand said: “Packs that already show a ‘may contain milk’ warning on the label are not affected.
“We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product, and for the inconvenience caused.”
Customers who have purchased the affected product and who have an allergy or intolerance to milk should not consume it.
Instead, they should return it to the store from which it was purchased or contact The Basic Ingredients directly for a full refund.
